A grand sacrificial ceremony was held by people of the Miao ethnic group at Lyudongshan Town of Baojing, a county of Hunan Province, on October 4 to pay tribute to their ancestors and holy mountain.
October 4 this year also marked the Double Ninth Festival, or Chongyang Festival in China, which is celebrated on the 9th day of the ninth month of the Chinese lunar calendar every year to honor and respect elders.
The sacrificial ceremony is a cultural feast of the Miao ethnic group and mainly consists of the three parts of inviting, showing respect and bidding farewell to the gods.
With colorful costumes and silver accessories, people of the Miao ethnic group celebrated the sacrificial ceremony with dances, singing and martial arts, conveying their gratitude to the sacred mountain for bringing about a good harvest, good fortune and happiness.
The grand ceremony drew the attendance of numerous visitors, who were deeply impressed by local intangible cultural heritages, sacrificial culture and ethnic customs.
